Hosted at the Yencheng Innovation Chamber, the day’s carefully curated agenda fostered cultural exchange, academic insights, and personal connections.

The event began with an energetic greeting from the student co-hosts, Brian Wu, a sophomore from the Department of Statistics, and Latisha Liu, a sophomore from the Department of Business Administration. Their confident and engaging introductions set a welcoming tone for the day’s agenda. This was followed by warm opening remarks delivered by Associate Dean for International Affairs, Professor Yenn-Ru Chen. Her address highlighted the significance of partnerships like the one between NUS and NCCUC in fostering global learning opportunities and collaboration.
The first presentation was a visual introduction to Taiwan presented by Yuki Yang and Niny Lin, creatively staged as a “YNN News” broadcast. With captivating visuals and a polished narrative style, they provided a comprehensive overview of Taiwan’s diverse landscapes, culinary delights, and efficient transportation systems. They also spotlighted Taiwan’s reputation as one of Asia’s safest nations, adding charm to their presentation with intriguing fun facts, drawing audience participation.

The spotlight then turned to NCCU and its prestigious College of Commerce. The co-hosts, Brian and Latisha, led this segment with a creative BBL News podcast format. With clarity and enthusiasm, they traced the university’s history, underscoring the College of Commerce’s prominence as a leading academic institution in Taiwan. They detailed its international programs, including the English-Taught Program, International Exchange Programs, and the renowned IMBA program, emphasizing the collaborative spirit embodied by partnerships with 148 academic institutions across 44 countries, proudly including NUS. They painted a vivid picture of student life at NCCU, encompassing the university’s extracurricular activities, clubs, and vibrant campus culture. To bring their presentation to life, Latisha showcased her musical talent by performing NCCUC My Sunshine, a lyrical adaptation of the beloved song You Are My Sunshine. This musical interlude, paired with heartfelt lyrics about life at NCCU, struck a chord with the audience, prompting many to hum along and others visibly moved by the creativity and sincerity.
Following these engaging introductions, the NUS delegation was divided into four groups for a guided campus tour led by the International Program Ambassadors (IPAs). The cool, drizzly weather of early winter in Taiwan provided a refreshing change for the visitors from Singapore’s tropical climate. Under the guidance of the IPAs, the groups explored NCCU’s campus, gaining firsthand insights into its facilities and vibrant student life. Andrew, an architect from the NUS delegation, expressed his admiration for the university’s expansive campus, particularly its abundant greenery, with its lush trees and scenic mountain views leaving a lasting impression on the delegation.

Upon returning from the tour, the focus shifted to academics as Roberto Piazera, a current IMBA student, delivered an earnest account of his experience in the program. He highlighted the program’s diversity and the invaluable friendships he has cultivated thus far with both Taiwanese and international peers. Roberto’s testimonial offered the visitors a personal glimpse into the transformative potential of studying at NCCU. His candid reflections provided a relatable perspective for the visitors, sparking curiosity about life in the IMBA program.

The day continued with a lunch gathering, providing an informal setting for students from both institutions to mingle and engage in spirited conversation. As they shared a meal at an on-campus restaurant, laughter and camaraderie filled the air. Students exchanged perspectives on academics, culture, professional careers, and daily life, forging connections that extended beyond the formalities of the day. This networking session deepened the bonds between NUS and NCCU students, reflecting the collaborative spirit that defines their partnership. Margarita, an NUS student leader, shared glimpses of their plans for the remainder of the week, hinting at the vibrant itinerary awaiting the delegation.

As the NUS delegation’s visit to NCCUC culminated, the hosts expressed their delight in welcoming such gracious guests, and the connections forged throughout the day left a meaningful impression on both sides. For NCCUC, it was an opportunity to showcase its unique blend of academic rigor and cultural richness. For NUS, it was a window into Taiwanese education and hospitality, deepening the ties between the two institutions. Their visit stands as a testament to the value of cross-cultural exchanges in shaping a truly global educational experience, one that welcomes curiosity, mutual respect, and the desire to build bridges across cultures.

<img
